A Note on the Research Papers

Dear Freshies,

Please don't feel limited to French, Polish, "African" and/or whatever my other examples were. I was just using them as examples. You can literally do anything.anywhere yo want. Vietnamese, Russian, Puerto Rican, Sioux, Mayan, etc. Maybe look to your own background, or a country you are passionate about. This project is an attempt to allow us to question and criticize the "Cannon" of literature (which is typically full of dead-white-male-authors, e.g. Twain, Shakespeare, Homer, Cicero, Faulkner, Hemingway, Fitzgerald, Plato, Aristotle, Dante, Milton, Poe, Whitman, Locke, Swift.) These are the apparent "masters of literature" and they have two things in common. 1 - They are all white, and they are a particular kind of white (all the names are anglicized. There are no Slavic names, or italic names; which is to say - none of them are Slavic, Spanish, French, Romanian, etc.) 2 - They are all male. First, we will be reading a lot of the names mentioned, as they are "masters" but I want us to be aware of this for our projects. That being said, don't change your posts, you'll still get the credit. But as we go further with this project, be mindful of this.
